Participate in Harvard's Summer Community Service Fellowship Program
From the Harvard Alumni Association...
Help students thinking about working in the public interest field by funding a Summer Community Service Fellowship (SCSF). Through this program, Clubs and SIGs have the opportunity to provide a fellowship to a Harvard undergraduate working with a nonprofit host organization in their local community or area. Participating Clubs and SIGs find the program to be an exciting and creative way both to support Harvard’s students and contribute to their home communities. Club and SIG members particularly applaud the degree of “hands-on” engagement and interaction, as they directly speak with students about their experiences, receive student reflection reports at the end of the summer and make recommendations on fellowship award recipients to a selection committee representing Harvard University, the HAA, the Center for Public Interest Careers (CPIC), and hosting Clubs and SIGs.

Harvardwood's Boston/Campus Chapter is looking for a member willing to open their home a couple times a year for Harvardwood Salons. These events are one of Harvardwood's most enjoyable and educational traditions: small group gatherings to hear from engaging speakers in a wide variety of entertainment industry positions. In the past, local salons have featured an entertainment lawyer, screenwriter for Hallmark, and the head of a TV festival.

Harvard undergraduates, looking to learn more about careers in entertainment? Apply to the 2020 Harvardwood 101 program!
The Harvardwood 101 career exploration program brings two dozen current undergraduates to Los Angeles during the January term and provides a series of career-related activities in order to demystify Hollywood and educate them about careers in the entertainment industry. The program began in 2003 and is cosponsored by Harvard University's Office for the Arts and the Office of Career Services.
Harvardwood 101 begins with a mandatory "bootcamp" week of company visits, speaker panels, and networking mixers with Harvard alums who work in entertainment. Students also attend film and TV panels, in addition to getting a "behind the scenes" look at studios, working film sets, talent agencies, production companies, and music labels (see below for a list of companies that have participated in the past).
An optional J-termship is available for students to apply their knowledge in a hands-on, short-term internship experience for the balance of the term. Students can opt to stay only for the mandatory bootcamp week.

Apply now to the Fall 2019 semester of the Jeff Sagansky Harvardwood TV Writers Program in Los Angeles! The deadline to submit your application is September 15, 2019.
The Jeff Sagansky Harvardwood TV Writers Program uses peer review, guest speakers and workshops to foster a motivating and supportive environment for each participant’s writing. There is a high expectation of preparation and writing done outside of the meetings (approx. 15-20 hours per week). Each module will have approximately eight participants, and will meet for approximately eleven sessions over a fourteen-week period beginning in late September 2019 or early October 2019. The program has a strict attendance policy, so please make sure that you can fully commit before applying. Participants are required to give constructive feedback to fellow writers in each session, so there is an expectation that you will have read applicable work prior to the meeting. The modules are successful because of this peer review, and you should expect a "writers room" format for your group.

Harvardwood has announced its Writers Competition winners and Most Staffable TV Writers List. This year, every category is led by a writer from an under-represented group. Although the winners are chosen via a blind judging process, Harvardwood's writers programs and competition have always had a far more diverse population than any WGA statistics on TV writers’ rooms or feature projects. “Harvardwood has strived to support new voices in the industry, and we are proud to see those efforts reflected in our competition winners,” says President Allison Kiessling.
