Harvard undergrads, apply to Harvardwood 101 now through 10/15

Harvard undergraduates, looking to learn more about careers in entertainment? Apply to the 2020 Harvardwood 101 program!

The Harvardwood 101 career exploration program brings two dozen current undergraduates to Los Angeles during the January term and provides a series of career-related activities in order to demystify Hollywood and educate them about careers in the entertainment industry.  The program began in 2003 and is cosponsored by Harvard University's Office for the Arts and the Office of Career Services.

Harvardwood 101 begins with a mandatory "bootcamp" week of company visits, speaker panels, and networking mixers with Harvard alums who work in entertainment. Students also attend film and TV panels, in addition to getting a "behind the scenes" look at studios, working film sets, talent agencies, production companies, and music labels (see below for a list of companies that have participated in the past).

An optional J-termship is available for students to apply their knowledge in a hands-on, short-term internship experience for the balance of the term. Students can opt to stay only for the mandatory bootcamp week.

The 2020 Harvardwood 101 program will run from Monday, Jan. 6 to Friday, Jan. 10, 2020. This means that students will need to arrive in Los Angeles by the evening of Sunday, January 5th at the very latest.

  • The MANDATORY bootcamp week will run from Jan. 6-10, 2020.
  • The OPTIONAL J-termship program will run from Jan. 13-24, 2020.

This year's deadline to apply to Harvardwood 101 will be Tuesday, October 15, 2019.

This program is open to all current Harvard College students who are Full Members of Harvardwood.

Applicants do not have to demonstrate prior experience in the arts, media, and entertainment—just a genuine interest in pursuing a career in one (or more!) of those fields!
