Event Description: Global Voices Film Festival, presented by U.S. National Committee for UN Women (SF - Bay Area), supports women producers, directors and writers, who are creating some of the most insightful and groundbreaking work in cinema today. The festival empowers women by showcasing films that spotlight the unique voices, stories and experiences of women and girls from across the world. UN Women is the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, which works to eliminate gender discrimination and achieve gender equality. The Global Voices Film Festival will donate net profits to fund UN Women’s life-changing global programs and initiatives.
Requirements- Judges will need to watch about nine films (mix of features and shorts, about five total hours’ worth of film) that we’ve selected to screen at our fest. They will be made available to each judge through the online submissions sites and can be viewed from any location from mid-July to early August. Judges will cast their vote by email or phone for the award categories we will provide. Then, judges attend and take part in the awards reception / panel discussion on September 16th from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm in San Francisco. The film viewing will occur at the Lucasfilm Premiere Theater in SF.
