Dancer, choreographer, dance educator, organizer, curator, and founding artistic director of Passion Fruit Dance Company, Tatiana Desardouin will lead a workshop at Harvard Dance Center as part of the Fall 2022 Visiting Dance Innovators Program (VDIP). The class will include an introduction to hip-hop and house dance culture, drills, foundations, and incorporate some variations and freestyle exercises using those foundations as a basis. Participants will learn how to connect movements with music, tools for creativity and individuality.
Tatiana’s teaching method titled "Technique Within Your Groove" allows for more freedom in one’s musicality and freestyle, incorporating technical tools without losing the groove. This method also pushes dancers to develop their coordination, rhythm, and polyrhythm.
This workshop will include conversations where participants will be introduced to “An Introspective Seed,” a series of questions for introspective anti-racist work.
An intermediate/advanced level class. Some dance experience is required. All dance forms/styles welcome!
Free and open to both the Harvard and broader Boston dance communities.
This event is part of the Fall 2022 Visiting Dance Innovators Program (VDIP), co-presented by the Harvard Dance Center and Theater, Dance & Media.
