Dancer, choreographer, curator, and dance educator, Amy O'Neal, brings "The Rhythm Assembly" to Harvard's campus as part of the Fall 2022 Visiting Dance Innovators Program (VDIP). 'The Rhythm Assembly" is a freestyle/improvisation methods class that merges practices and philosophies from Black social dance culture and contemporary dance. Multiple perceptions of rhythm are explored in relationship to the often-unspoken dynamics of race, gender, and aesthetic hierarchies to discover connections while celebrating difference.
Experience in Hip Hop culture or training in Contemporary dance is not required, but some dance experience is! All dance forms/styles welcome.
Free and open to both the Harvard and broader Boston dance communities.
This event is part of the Fall 2022 Visiting Dance Innovators Program (VDIP), co-presented by the Harvard Dance Center and Theater, Dance & Media.
