Join Harvardwood for a master class in fiction writing for novels with HLS Alumnus Susan Alexander!
Susan Alexander is a graduate of Harvard Law School who has worked as a lawyer in the public interest, along with serving as a federal judge’s law clerk, an arbitrator, a law school professor, and a consultant on legal writing. She has also worked at three Chicago law firms. She earned her AB with highest honors (summa cum laude) from Washington University in St. Louis and an MA in political science from Northwestern University.
Susan now focuses primarily on writing. Her writing has appeared in a wide array of publications, including the San Francisco Chronicle, the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, the San Francisco Daily Journal, the Los Angeles Daily Journal, the Baltimore Sun, the New York Daily News, the ABA Journal, and a host of other professional and mainstream publications. She was the first editor of The Almanac of the Federal Judiciary, and her short story “Neglect” was a winner in Chicago Lawyer magazine’s first annual fiction competition.
Susan lives in San Francisco. A Quicker Blood, her first novel, was published in 2009. Her second novel, Jealous Mistress, was published in 2011. Red Diana, her third novel, was published in 2018. The protagonist of each novel is a alumna of Harvard Law School, and storylines and characters in each have a strong Harvard connection.
Susan’s blog, Susan Just Writes, has published her comments on a wide variety of topics once a month since 2012.
