The Harvard Law School Association of Los Angeles invites you to join us for a special in-person panel with Harvard Law alumnae who have successfully forged their own paths as creatives in the entertainment industry. We will be exploring how each panelist arrived at their current role, unique challenges they have faced as women in Hollywood, and more, with an opportunity for attendees to network prior to the panel.

Light appetizers and beverages will be provided, and garage parking will be validated. Registration is required.

With her unique flare and robust sense of humor, Raye Mitchell has navigated her personal and professional career on varied platforms moving in the same direction toward celebrating dignity, humanity, inclusion, and helping overlooked people tell their stories. As a confessed competition addict, Raye is an original Mouthologist.® In 2022, Mitchell launched her newest content production company, Bossology 53 Entertainment, LLC. As Chief Boss Girl Producer and Writer at Bossology 53, Mitchell works on the Cindy Brown and Raye Mitchell story.

Writer and Co-Executive Producer on Manifest

A screenwriter in Los Angeles, Laura Putney relishes a career that allows her to be endlessly creative, building characters, scenes, plots – entire worlds. Laura worked as an actress before she and her writing partner Margaret Easley got their start on The Mysteries of Laura. Laura and Margaret are perhaps most known as the current #2s on Manifest, on which they have been staffed since season one.

Desta Tedros Reff

Desta Tedros Reff ’13

Writer and Executive Producer on A League of Their Own
Desta Tedros Reff is a writer and director that has written for a variety of different shows, from character dramas (Sorry for Your Loss, The Last Tycoon) to action (Shooter) and then some (The Purge, Grand Hotel). Currently, she serves as an Executive Producer on Amazon's television reboot of A League of Their Own. Before transitioning to entertainment, Desta had a former career as a lawyer and spent several years in the Mississippi Delta working as a social justice advocate. Desta loves to tell stories from a place of empathy and is driven to bring marginalized perspectives into the mainstream, specifically through authentic portrayals of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC characters and stories.

Becca Topol

Becca Topol ’94

The Walt Disney Company, Series Co-Producer and Writer

A writer of both live-action and animation film and television series, Becca’s writing credits include feature indie rom-com The Ramen Girl (inspired by her experiences living in Tokyo), romantic dramedy Sugar Babies and psychological thrillers Wicked Mom’s Club and Psycho In-Law. She developed (created), produced and was the story editor for Disney’s animated show Mira, Royal Detective. She is currently developing a live action female action-comedy feature and a dramedy TV series with various companies, including Big Swing Productions. She also serves as co-producer and story editor on a new Spiderman Series for Marvel and Disney.

Jillian London is an attorney in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She practices in the firm’s Litigation, Media, Entertainment & Technology, Class Actions, and Appellate and Constitutional Law Practice Groups. Jillian has extensive experience litigating all stages of commercial disputes in the technology and entertainment sectors, including in the areas of breach of contract, class actions, intellectual property, and employment. She is also a member of the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
