The big screen loves a good musical. From the classics by Rodgers and Hammerstein to modern originals that have made a splash on Broadway, the movie musical continues to give everyone surprising ways to tell a story over song.

For this session, The Writers Guild Foundation talks to screenwriters and playwrights about their process for crafting film musicals, how they’ve adapted stage books into screenplays, and their storytelling techniques within the genre.
