The defining moment in jazz trombone great Art Baron's career came in 1973, when Duke Ellington hired him for the Duke Ellington Orchestra. After his time with Ellington, Baron went on to play with many of the most brilliant artists in jazz and pop, including Illinois Jacquet, Stevie Wonder, Buddy Rich, Lou Reed, Mel Torme, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, B.B. King, Cab Calloway, and Wynton Marsalis's Jazz at Lincoln Center All-Stars.

Joining Baron in his Quartet will be bassist Bill Crow, who has an extraordinary resume of his own including performances with Stan Getz, Marian McPartland, Gerry Mulligan, Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Dizzy Gillespie, Quincy Jones, Mel Torme, Nina Simone, Benny Goodman, and, just once, with Duke Ellington.

Guitarist Bill Wurtzel has played with Wild Bill Davis, Jimmy McGriff, Ruth Brown, and Jimmy Witherspoon.

All About Jazz wrote of drummer Gregory Bufford, "By any standard,he's an exceptional musician with a personal sound, conception, and feeling for jazz . . . On the one hand, he provides a firm rhythmic foundation and generously supports every musician on the bandstand. On the other, Bufford draws on a deep reservoir of rhythms—some boldly executed, others that barely register in the listener's consciousness— and executes them in mesmerizing ways."

The price includes a reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres, dinner with wine, the performance, and dessert with coffee or tea, all in the stunning 1887 landmark surroundings of the beautiful and friendly Down Town Association and surrounded by some of the nicest people in town! Those of you who have been to our Jazz evenings know these are some of the happiest and most memorable events in New York.

The Down Town Association is easy to reach at 60 Pine Street. Just take the #2 or #3 train to the Wall Street Station, and leave by the Pine Street exit. You'll be across the street from the Down Town Association.

Or you can take the #4 or #5 train to the Wall Street station. Walk three blocks east on Wall Street to William Street. Turn left on William Street and walk one block to Pine. Then turn right on Pine Street. 60 Pine Street is on the left side of the street. (It's simpler than it sounds!)
