Guest of Honor/Speaker: Richard E. Strassberg, UCLA Professor in the Department of Asian Languages & Cultures. Dr. Strassberg will discuss his forthcoming book about the Kangxi emperor's summer palace, Bishu shanzhuang.

Richard E. Strassberg earned his Ph.D. in East Asian Studies from Princeton University. He is a professor of Chinese and specializes in pre-modern Chinese literature and culture. Among the courses he teaches are: classical Chinese language, fiction, and prose; pre-modern narrative and drama; mythology and the supernatural; travel writing; and garden culture.
