Education Through Music-Los Angeles and Friends Of The Observatory will team up to promote STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Arts, Math) initiatives in education in order to provide disadvantaged youth with equitable opportunities to develop skills and knowledge needed to be successful, creative innovators for the 21st Century.
Sponsored by Universal Pictures, the event will kick off with a screening of FIRST MAN in the 180-seat Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theatre at the Observatory. A Q&A panel featuring Academy Award-winning composer Justin Hurwitz AB '07 and other filmmakers will follow, along with a dessert reception on the terrace with telescopes set up for guests.
100% of proceeds will benefit both Griffith Observatory's regional education programs and Education Through Music-LA's music instruction programs in disadvantaged schools across Los Angeles County.
