Learn the Business of Screenwriting with Harvardwood Chapter Head
So you've written a great script -- now what? Find out in Harvardwood Boston/Campus Chapter Head Adam Pachter's 10-week Business of Screenwriting class, Wednesday evenings at Emerson College starting in late January. Learn how to pitch your script, identify people and places that might be interested in it, and get representation for your screenwriting career. Get tips directly from successful screenwriters, development executives, and even the showrunner of multiple hit TV shows! Feel free to reach out to Adam with any questions at [email protected] Check out the class description and register at the link below; you don't need to be an Emerson student to enroll: Alongside learning the craft of screen or television writing, it serves aspiring writers well to gain familiarity with the business and career aspects of the entertainment industry. This course will discuss such topics as: breaking in, where to live, intellectual property, loglines, spec scripts, pitching, seeking representation from agents and managers, and networking. It will also discuss trade publications, online resources, and social media; writers’ conferences, contests, and film festivals; and the difference between writers’ groups, writers’ rooms, and the Writers’ Guild. Assignments for the course will be fun, interactive, and practical. There are no course prerequisites, but it would be helpful for participants to have a work-in-progress or at least a script concept that can be used as the basis for class assignments. The class will also feature guest speakers familiar with various aspects of the entertainment industry. https://www.emerson.edu/majors-programs/professional-studies/non-credit-programs/screenwriting
