Jennifer Burke Sylva will provide an overview of the bundle of rights contained in a song’s copyrights, requirements for copyright registration, the importance of the timing of registration, the potential value of each copyright, the duration of copyright protection, as well as some practical tips about the Copyright Office’s online system for the registration of copyrights, where to find additional information, and, if time allows, a walk through the application form.

Presenter: Jennifer Burke Sylva practices entertainment, intellectual property, and copyright law and represents individuals and companies in in the music industry and technology sector in various matters which include composing and studio agreements for composers and musicians, management, touring, music production, book and music publishing, as well as other transactions related to entertainment, the Internet, multimedia, software applications, and emerging technologies. Prior to founding the Sylva Law firm in 2006, Jennifer served as General Corporate Counsel for Liquid Audio, Inc. and as head counsel for Sony’s consumer-facing online digital distribution company.
